What a wonderful place to stay! The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, my room was delightful and the breakfast was just perfect. I will definitely book again next year.
We stayed one night on our way back from the top of Scotland. It was a very comfortable spacious room with plenty of beds for the family. The owner is not only a welcoming person but also an amazing cook. The sausages are delicious. I had what might be the best sleep in a hotel ever. It has a very cozy and aesthetic vibe to it. Honestly don’t listen to the bad reviews. This was honestly amazing. The room we had had a great view too. We had a great experience right as we entered.
Our second visit and we will definitely be back, the owners are so friendly and welcoming. Brilliant location and the local dog friendly pub is great for drinks and food.
We were made to feel very welcome when we called in after a three hour soaking cycle ride. The living room is comfortable and the warming, real fire was fantastic! 5 Stars!!

Not the closest stay to the coast to coast walk, but glad we took the gamble. Great host, large room and lovely breakfast. The owner’s son dropped us back off in Orton to continue our walk to Kirkby Stephen. The village pub (Cross Keys) serves great food and beer, so don’t hesitate to consider Tebay as an alternative to Orton for the stopover from Shap to Kirkby. The B&B is also very close to an M6 junction, so ideal for anyone on a long road trip.
Very nice place to stay! Maybe not the newest and most modern one, but very clean, very friendly hosts who picked me up at Orton and nice breakfast! The families daughter is coeliac so I felt perfectly safe to have a glutenfree (and also dairy free) breakfast :-)
